So recently, a girl from my school scrapped me on orkut(yes girls do scrap me!!)…asking me ’hey arent u the same guy who dated miss so on and so in school?’(no names disclosed!!)  i was like yah…and wat do u know the next 20 minutes i kept answering questions about all my  crushes and girl friends i have ever had….i was like this not what i do for a living!!!……She made me feel like i was some sort of a love machine who keeps manufacturing love potions to make girls fall for him!!!….The girl probably had this wired loverboy image of mine in her head and thought thats what i would like to asked!!…This is what a preconceived notion is all about!!

Everyone one of us make some sort of wierd assumptions about various people and situations based only on certain incidences without knowing much about the thing or the person concerned! I just feel there is so much hype around few things and few which actually should be hyped are totally sidelined!…

Just imagine the girl whom u really liked always thought about u as a geek and always talked about things like hey could u please tell me whats Pottassium iodide’s molecular weight or whats the sub-atomic nature of the fourth aniti-matter in space or something like that instead of asking u simple things like how are you?…or what were u doing? It happens so many times with all of us….we get asked these wierd questions by people only because they have formed a set picture of ours in their head and normally are reluctant to change it even if u are the exact opposite of what they thought of u at first.

I mean what is it about human beings that we sort of  make perceptions about every small thing in this world….we anaylse and have a view on almost everything be it politics or sports or your very own neighbour’s life. I feel our views about things makes some very myopic in nature maybe stops us from discovering the real thing.All of us in some or other way live in a world of our own which is always goverened by our own perceptions and not by what maybe actually happening around us.

I feel i have misjudged sooo many people because of things people had told me about them without actually getting to know what kind of a person they were and i have lost out on a lot of friends and lot of knowledge.

Basically it is the nature of human beings to make a view on something never expierienced and form a world of our own made up of our own misconceptions.So many times people may dissuade us from trying out new things without having a clue of what we are talking about.’Dont drive a two-wheeler in Mumbai’(Is their a law?) Dont join the call centres(why do they make u talk to Atalji the whole day?) Dont marry a foreigner’(why does she have swine flu? but this could be true so be careful) i mean its funny people giving u advice free of cost without really knowing head or tail of the subject.

Finally the thing which i have understood is its good to hear out people and take their advice but in life we must make our own mistakes and learn from them and not from somebody’s else’s.Its our life and we need to make it large and live in the present and beware of things around us.Make your assumptions,notions,views about things after having expierienced it and understood your mistakes.We have one life lets take in all the expieriences that we can and enjoy it.

P.S- This is what comes out when you havent slept for 48 hours straight

I having gone through all this can tell u for a fact that this period of about 4-5 months is one of the toughest in any students life!Its called ‘ADMISSION TIME’….or as my friends like to put it ‘Mission Admission’(must take my share from Apoorva Lakhia…who the hell is he now!!)….

Exams as i like to call them are a necessary evil.They for a fact are the best way to evaluate someone but they are also pretty evil since if u dont manage to perform in those 3-4 hours then your life takes a new turn for sometime.I know it is easy to say so what if one exam went bad others will go well but the student who has written the paper knows how important those 3-4 hours were.

In todays world of cut throat competition even 1 mark makes a big difference in getting a seat in a college and sitting at home!Today admssion have become such a hot thing that our beloved mews channels actually have shows and talkshows on these admission topics and u know what for those few months these shows manage to garner the maximum TRP’S…..just to think a child’s admission in a college today has become a topic of national importance!

But having written all this my main point is that see a normal hardworking student(which today most of them are!!) normally puts his maximum into studying for these xams and if for some or the other reason he does not manage to reach his potential that in no way makes that student a bad student,yes it may become difficult for him to get an admission but life is full of hardships and also there is hope at the end of every dark tunnel!!….This implies to all types of xams such competetive,10th,12th etc or even life in general!

Another point is i have some problems in the method of evaluation here.Any person can have an off day that should not effect his carreer…he may have put in the same effort as the guy who got the first place but just because he could not perform in the stipulated time he has to suffer and compromise with his carreer.U may argue the first place guy handled pressure better but tell me is a teenager really expected to handle pressure with ease!!!!!…..Even great sportpersons like Tiger Woods,Roger Federer have counsellers to help them deal with pressure and u r telling me that a teenager should handle pressure well.You must be kidding me!

For me a evalution should be such that it highlights your work throughout the year and gives u an average score or grade at the year end…. that for me is a fair evalution!!Such evalution will help reduce stress and u will see students working throughout the year and and enjoying there studies much more and also it will help tapping the best talents….not just one day wonders!!

Lastly everything said and done…..our society is a place which we have built ourselves and we should learn to live in it according to the system setup by us.But for me education is not just about books,or marks but it is about developing one’s overall personality and becoming a happy responsible cititzen and if by some means we can impart this to the youth then the whole pupose of education will be served!!And what if one does not succeed or become the best student no worries man there are so many people around us who without being brilliant and academically superior are happy and successfull in what they do……it is important to understand that life is not about marks and admissions its a thing to live for and i feel if one manages a smile at the end of each day thinking about his efforts i think the whole pupose of being educated has succeeded!!The person who is happy with himself is the person who has actually understood the meaning of education!!

Bahut ho gaya serious bhaashan agle post se waapas apne line par maamu!!!…

During this time when the Euro was scheduled one set of species in Mumbai were enjoying there hard earned vacations (Yah Right!!) .These species are called Engineers better known as ‘Style Maaru Log’. These poor souls called engineers had nothing to do in there free time, due to such a massive crisis few were actually dying of boredom whereas few others(yours truly) were spending around 18 hours of there day sleeping.(and giving a whole new meaning to laziness) At such difficult situations the Euro came along as a saviour for these poor souls, they had a reason to stay awake, they had a reason to live. The tournament displayed 16 of the best teams in Europe competing for European domination. These teams displayed the best footballing skills witnessed together under one roof after a long time.

The tournament held in Austria and Switzerland was of the best I have ever witnessed in any sport for a long time. The organisation was top class and the facilities almost mind boggling. The stadiums, the pitch, the dressing rooms, the hotels everything was so good it almost felt like a fairy tale.

Along with the facilities the most important thing are the players, and boy were they brilliant. All teams had there best players out and they showed football at its best it was as if music was in motion . The spirit shown by each team and individual was nothing short of ideal. The best part about the football was the brilliant open attacking football that the teams displayed in spite of what was at stake, even the big matches like the quarters, semis or the final even did not see a dip in the kind of attacking football. The great part was though teams played with new strategies and tactics at no point did the matches become dull and boring unlike the last tournament. It was highly entertaining stuff. Along with the great players on display there were plenty of young footballers on show as well and they did not fail to make an expression. Many clubs scouting for new signing were greatly helped as brilliant youngsters were on display for them to choose and bolster there squads for the upcoming season. But what is a tournament without its fan and this was no different. The fans at Euro 2008 were simply fantastic and the support from the fans was unbelievable it was a carnival atmosphere not just at the grounds but even at people’s homes.The tournament was telecast in India by Espn and Star sports and I think they did a fantastic job with great pre and post match shows analysing each and every aspect of the teams and there game play in general. John Dykes along with his team of experts organised the show in a superb manner.

But for free flowing attacking football to take place you need open minded refereeing and the refereeing at the tournament was top notch. The referees aloud the game to continue at every possible opportunity and played the advantage where ever possible. Also any indiscipline was dealt with severely and there man management skills were simply superb. Even in the big games the standard of refereeing continued to remain the same and they allowed great games to develop.

All these great attributes of the euro led to a wonderful watch for the tv as well as the live audiences. During this time of about a month I think all sports took a complete backseat, people were not really hassled when India lost to Pakistan in the Kitply cup because they knew there was something waiting for them every night-a treat of footballing genius

I think this tournament is a great learning model for other sports, and sporting events around the globe. It should make other sporting bodies understand better how to hold tournaments that can catch the imagination of the whole world, how to make the tournaments a fun thing for the audience so that they watch it and enjoy.

This has put a big responsibility on the upcoming Beijing Olympics games if the Olympics is similar to this then it will a spectacle to watch out for.

I as a big fan of football had a gala time watching this tournament, it was one of the best things I have watched on television for a really long time. Thank u FIFA and UEFA and big thanks to all who brought Euro 2008 to us.

I normally try to bring out different aspects of various things in my posts . But this post I have written to just express what I had in my heart after watching the Euro 08.  I know there ll be millions of articles, blogs, shows made and written about it but I don’t mind if mine is similar to anyone of them, in this I actually want to join the bandwagon.!

When i was younger(around 7- 8 ) i would feel it would be so different once i enter teenage i would be able to do so many cool things ….i turned 13 and nothing of that sort happened(surprise! surprise!)…i think, the thing is v assume that v ll  turn into something else once v reach a certain age but what actually happens is v just grow up,maybe v do become a bit more mature, handle things differently,and become a bit more understanding(not true in the case of a few(e.g. moi)) but v dont change as an individual on a whole….There arent any drastic changes in our personalities!

The changes that do happen are so gradual and slow that i think v ourselves dont understand that v are slowly ageing and becoming a person with slightly different traits and qualities(good or bad!)! The assumption that v ll all go through a drastic change once v reach a certain age doesnt happen overnite and thus when v happen 2 reach the certain age v start to think that are v really different then what v were 10 years from now??.Its because the changes to us are not visible.They may not be visible to your parents as well, you for them maybe that same old boy who couldnt even tie his shoe laces,or would cry whenever he heard a dog bark…..The new u maybe spotted by people who happen to meet u after many years like a old friend,or some realtive!Then only does realization dawn upon us that v have actually grown up into something different then what we actually were.

I used to always feel i would be so mature and different when i become 18 but today when i m 18 i still feel i m the same old guy with wierd thoughts and wierder habbits! The best judges are i think ones friends i think if a friend has been close to u for a say a certain number of years he ll tell u “u are the same old guy who he befriended years ago’….IN this period of friendship both of them have matured and changed but it isint visible to either.

SO the only thing i would like to say through this post is that stop thinking that there ll be a massive change in u once u become say 18 or 21 or 40 or 70, u ll be the same old person with certian fine tuned qualities ,more xpierence,and maurity but the raw material will remain the same. So stop worrying about how u are ageing b’coz i m telling u will turn out just fine…..SO just enjoy the process of Growing up and live life to the fullest!!

Jannu*-A highly overused term in modern day relationships(between a boy and a girl,between 2 boys,or 2 girls)….u may also come across its various cousins such as janneman,jaanam,jaan or even Janvar.Sometimes these words are so often used in conversations of our modern day lovers that they end up saying only these words during a two hour duel!!….Dervatives of the word are also in gr88 demand these days such as Sweetu,Sweetheart,Sugarpie,Plumcake, etc!

The Italians as we all know are known to sit back and wait for any opportunity for the counter but they came across a Spanish side which was ready to wait and they played the Italian game very well(sometimes even better than the Italians!!).But even if u wanna sit back u need to change the game’s pace to outfox the Spanish and that the Italians couldnt! Spain played a very intelligent game in giving Torres a playmakers role instead of an out and out striker!(and for that the credit goes 2 Luis Aragones!)…One guy who impressed me was David Silva who really had the Italians on all four whenever he went forward with his pace…..i feel he was highly unlucky not to score!

The Italians had Luca Toni and Cassano at the top and both were mere spectators for most of the match especially Toni…who has had one of the worst tounaments any forward could have…..The Italians are the world champions, and i think any champion side would have played such a important game a lot differently…..it was a total dissapointment!…The azzuris played a highly tactical robotic game with no ebb and flow(which was a total contradiction 2 how the tournament has till now panned out!)….whereas Spain with Iniesta,Silva and later on cesc fabregas played the game as it should be, they changed the game at will. The Italians from the first whistle looked as if they played the match for penalties(which they feel they are champions at[;)]) and when it came down to it again Spain proved to be far superior tactically and converted 4 out of the 5 to set up a mouth watering semi-final clash with Russians(who are playing what i call ‘Total Football’).

Noel Di Lima said he was happy that the Italians had been knocked out since they did not play to win.I second him on that.Spain were fantastic in not succumbing to the dullnsess being created by the Italians and continued to play attacking football and i think for this a big credit needs to be given to Luis Aragones who managed his troops with super confidence and coolness! So i beleive the Italians actually got screwed at there own game and its high time the Italians do some introsception and look at there game because i feel now all teams have found them out!…..And aslo look for better strkers….and make moves on the spur of the moment instead of planning everything and sticking to a set formula!!

Great going Spain……….. and i think 4 deserving teams have reached the semis…..May the best team win!!!

I have been a French supporter from the 98 world cup……not after they won it but when they were still in the group stages!  I saw a team which was still trying to find its bearing in the tournament but somehow there game appleaded to me! There quick passing ,aggresive attack and brilliant wing play had me mesmerised!….From then on i have felt every emotion that a normal French national would feel when his team plays….Yes my eyes are moist today that France are out but there ll be time for writing about that, but today when everyone’s down its time to remind them y v support France and show some light at the end of the tunnel.

I have seen the greatest footballer of all time Zizou as v call him, do godly stuff on the pitch in critical times…..he was the driving force in 98,in uefa 2000 and also in world cup-06…..His presence has made France play at a level few teams could match!….I have seen magical Henry scoring goals in situations which looked down and out…scoring from places only fifa players can…..making impossible angles and making runs in2 defences with panache and pin-point accuracy…..Henry is as Clive Telysedley says ‘a through professional who loves his country and gives his 100 percent no matter what the situation is !’

France has over the years had some wonderful defenders like Wiuly Sagnol,L Thuram,W Gallas, Eric Abidal…the best left back in the world rite now Patrice Evra…and many more…..all of them do their job quietly and with lethal effect….Sagnol in particular is the most under rated defender in the world i feel the guy runs up and down without tiring and his game postioning is sometimes mind boggling. France has had so many greats from Micheal Platini to Eric Cantona to Zidane to Henry to Ribery.

Ribery also showed the true French style in the 06 world cup when he alongwith Zidane and Henry changed the whole game in the big matches quick one-twos and quick change of pace and direction had opponents fluxomexed! The game which really made a startling impact on me was the game against the Brazilians everyone expected Brazil to hammer the Freanch but the strategy of the French was too much for the free flowing Brazilians. Henry sitting just on the shoulders of the defenders and Zidane and Ribery making the game play had the Brazil defence totally confused and led them conceding the goal of the tournament by Ribery!

France also has very promising and upcoming young talent like Samir Nasri and Karim Benzeama to name a few!…..Nasri and Benzeama and attacking midfielders but are quite good in stopping the centre backs as well!….They show a promising fututre for French football and maybe the stars of the 2010 world cups in South Africa!….I wish Frsnce had played to there potential but that in no way deters my love for this great footballing nation! I m a Les Blues all the way!!!…..Bonjour!!

Saregamapa,Indian idol,popstars,comedy shows,acting shows etc….etc…..these r some of the various kinds of reality shows taking place around us!…But are they really making a difference.Just think for those 3-4 months for which these shows are on people are glued to the tv but after the winner is announced do v even care about these contestants,judges the show….i think absolutely not! Also i think these shows as they call it say-Indian idol for example(actually after winning every idol becomes idle) they call it Indian idol and have the auditions in only big cities how can u call it Indian idol if u cant reach out to the small towns and villages!!

The people who stay in these towns and villages are not even aware of such shows,some towns and villages dont even have cable television!!…..These shows proclain that they are helping young talent to prosper and are giving them a massive opportunities but y only to people who stay in the creamy cities of India!!….Talent is everywhere in the smallest of villages there maybe singers,dancers and actors who  maybe 100 times better then these contestants but they dont get an apportunity to shine! These shows are just tapping talent who have access to such shows but think about those who have no idea these shows and talent hunts take place dont they deserve to get a chance as well.

I beleive such shows should be taken to small villages in each state and auditions should be held there! then only can u call it a show which taps INDIAN talent!….Also nature of these shows should be changed….instead of just having entertainment shows they should come up with innovative shows….like for an example set up 3-4 teams and give them 3-4 villages for some period and ask them to reform it…..make it into an modern town and the best reforming team wins…..i think such types of shows will help the villages and also the contestants!

So my point is make shows that just dont entertain for the sake of it(trp is the word)….make shows which actually make a difference in the country!….Try to create awareness about such talent hunts in all towns and villages and then see India actullay shining!…A reality check is needed for these show makers…..and please change this sms business…..by voting for the contestants v r doing a favour to the contestant and the show..so instead of our balance being reduced v should be credited by more balance for deeds by the channels…..i hope someone’s reading this!!

Type A:THE SUPERSTARS

These are the people who are the SRK’s and Hrithik Roshan’s of the gym!!…..AS these superstars make grand entry in small time movies for a minute or 2 similarly these people visit the gym once in three weeks or so!……But the strange part is as it is with small time movies more than the real hero the focus is on the the big stars making guest appearances,in our gym also the focus is on these people who happen to turn up once in a bluemoon…….when they do come they manage to change the whole compostion and dynamics of the place the gym instrustors instead of telling them which exercise to perform happen to tell them things like ‘Sir kitna time ho gaya aapse milke ke”……’Sir aapke Rishteydaar kaise hai’……and so on……these people for that 1 and 1/2 hour become the centre of attraction and everyone else who is working out is treated as if they dont exist! And your very own gym instuctor who on normal days would talk to u about anything ranging form ‘why is he paid so less’  to ‘how his brother in Kanpur does not listen to him and in no ways is helping the family’ and all that……on that day will treat u like some non living entity!!….They wont even care if u just sit on 1 of the machines or break it into 2!!(it could b very dangerous to come to the same gym after that though!!)…..So basically thats our type A!

Type B:KITTA PARTY

Like females all around the world have something called the ‘KITTY PARTY’, where females as different as chalk and cheese get together and discuss about everyone in dere vicinity(basically gossip)……and when i thought only females do all these things like discussing about the neighbours son’s affair with bajuwalli Khanna aunty or how Sharma uncle gets drunk every nite and beats up his wife only to realise its the watchman……i got the shock of my life to see males are not far behind at this!If dere is a ‘Kitty Party’ for females then dere is also a so called ‘Kitta Party’ for males and that happens in my gym almost every single day!!!….These people are omnipresent in the gym,they stay dere as if they have been thrown out of dere houses and this is the only place which gives them shelther!!……These people,  groups of 5-6 stick together as the Indian team huddle and discuss about everything from ‘ y   say a Mr. X is doing that excercise to y Narender Modi became CM again to y u havent got any shape in your muscles though u work out regularly’….there best form of timepass is to go up to people and tell them the do’s and dont’s of a particular excercise(though most of the times its the other way around!!!) and they also manage to give them advice on dere diet like wat type of food to eat,wat type of Protein shakes to take etc…etc………they stay at the gym for god knows how long but i havent ever seen them doing one particular excercise for more than two  minutes, after that they start dere regular lukhagiri business……they are most of the time busy admiring themselves or praising each other on how wonderful dere muscles have started to look and how by the end of the month they ll start looking like John Abraham  …etc….etc…..so these r the people who have come out to challenge the females in dere own game!!…..KITTA PARTY u rock!!

Type C:THE WORK HORSES

These are the people who acutally come to the gym for the sole purpose for which it was started in the first place-’Gymming’…..These people work out with gr888 determination,sweating it out,they have a proper regime going on!……They even happen to keep a check on dere diet and work out as people should these are the Ideal gymmers!!……They talk less,work out more, and always have a smile on dere face while working out…….they actually manage to inspire me sometimes!(which is rare)…they do all reps properly with the correct technique sometimes even better than the gym guys!!!…..And most importantly they are regular…..but regular as in they do go back home!!!(not like our kitta party!!)

Type D:THE POSTER BOYZ

These are the people who have a built similar to one of those WWE people……these are the people whose pictures are posted outside the gym to lure people into joining it……they are really massive, and they happen to look at u which such disdain as if u are some defomed species  with four feet springing out at different angles!!…….these people intimidate u to the core and manage to make u realise that however hard u work u wont be able to ever have muscles which bulge like deres!!….They work out on every  machine with vengenace and they manage to do weigths which are not even touched by anyone else(these weights actually lie at the dark,shady corners with cobwebs growing on them……since no one manages to even lift them half a inch!!)….they do all reps, and make wierd noises and faces while doing them as if feeling constipated!!…so these are the muscle hunks who almost manage to make u feel that u should just go home relax b’coz however well u do your stuff u wont b able to do stuff the way they do it……

SO basically these are the major four kinds of people i have come across in mah gym!!!…..

and i forgot to mention there are a  few like me as well who go to the gym to workout,enjoy and learn new stuff…..have a bit of interaction with people  and come back home with a smile(and a smelly shirt ofcourse!!!)….but as  u know the common man always goes unnoticed(so such people do not qualify to be a type!!) and these are all the traits of a common man(like yours truly!!) when he would go to a gym!!!

P.S Dont mind the grammatical errors and typing mistakes……was multitasking as usual(too busy u know……bade log!!!:-P) while writing this(was actually…….1.Eating aloo ke Pakode(yummyyyyyy)   2.Listening to fm on my N70(show off giri chalu!!) which i have sort of stolen from my dad (listening to some show called Love Guru, where wierd people talk about dere wierd love problems…y dont i have any!!!:-( )3.Trying to pretend that i m studying just in case mom turns up, reading stuff like Nano water and phase technology(its chemistry….. i guess!!!) (the book is on the study table(which i rarely frequent) some 3 feet apart))

Uff i m tired now and heading off to the gym….AUDIOUS!!….

HEY AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE…….I HOPE 2008 IS GREAT FOR EVERYONE!!!…

But more than being impressed by India on field performance i have been impressed by their off field performances off late. Till the last 4-5 years India were a very good cricketing nation but they lacked in one game which is equally important along with cricket today and that is ‘THE MIND GAME’.

But in these last 4-5 years India has learnt to play this game extremely well.It is gr888 to see India fight fire with fire!……Australians as u know are vetrans in  playing with the mental makeup of their opponents(especially touring sides), they tried that again this time through the media.But India gave the Aussies a taste of their own medicine by replying to each and every statement of their’s with equal fire and aggression.

In today’s world the mind game has become an important part of each and every sport.The Aussies are the best in the business at that.But i think the Indians have learnt it really well with time.I remember Ponting saying to the press ’The pressure is on the Indians since they have never won a series in Australia’…..to which Kumble replied ‘The pressure is actually on the Aussies since they are playing at home and they havent lost a series at home since 92-93′……it just shows India are not going to take anything lying down but will give it back to the Aussies!!

The Aussies use the Media to put pressure on the touring sides by making bold statements in the vaious mediums of media trying to chalenge their opponents……they did it again to India as well but i think India were very good at replying back with fire and composure in such a way that the Aussies themselves felt a bit threatened!!!…It just shows how the tide’s turning turning and India are becoming a force to reckon with in this game(mind game!) as well!!

Mind games today are played in every International sport by every international player!! I can recall Roger Federer’s statement just before the US open Semi-final match……when Federer was asked who he thought was the player who could really give him a tough time…..the extremely humble champion actually went on to say ‘The only one who can defeat Roger Federer is ROGER FEDERER himself…..and that to if he is lucky’ the statement left everyone smiling and amazed that such a humble man could actually say such a thing…..but what Federer was actually doing was trying to play with the mental makeup of his fellow competitors trying to tell them come on people lift your game and chalenge me!!!….It was a gr888 statregic mind game played by the champ and at a crucial stage in the tournament!!!And he went on to win the championship as well!!

 These statements are taking into account the match situation and the other team or person’s mental makeup and strength!…..Another incident that i can reacall is the famous Football world cup final between Italy-France it was the 86th or 87th minute, the score tied at 1-1,France’s best player Zinedine Zidane was moving into Italy’s Marco Matterazzi(both the scorer’s for their respective sides)……when suddenly Marco said something really offensive about Zidane and his family which got Zidane soo angry that he turned around and gave Matterazzi the now famous head-butt of the century!!!…..He was sent off and France went on to lose the fiercely fought finals through penalty shootout when David Trezeguet of France missed a penalty(who by the way was brought on after Zidane got suspended!!)……

It just shows how Matterazzi played with Zidane’s mind and emotions and made him do something so unbeliveable!!…..I m not saying Matterazzi was right in doing wat he did, i m just trying to point out that how at a crucial point in the match he managed to get Zidane’s attention away from the game and got him all charged up and finally got him sent off which in a way was the turning point in the game in an othewise really evenly fought match between 2 gr8888 nations!!!…..The Italians managed to get the better of France not just in the match but also mentally by disturbing the mental process of the French and coming out on top!!!….Today Mind Games have become an integral part of each and every International sport and almost all players be it a gr888 or a young man starting out play the game in their own little way!!

Hope India win the series along with the mind game!!

Though v lost the first test really badly i think v still have a big chance to comeback and win the series against the Aussies!!!
